Medicare CBDS - Child Benefit Dental Schedule

Did you know your child may be eligible for up to $1,000 in basic dental services under the Medicare Child Dental Benefits Scheme (CDBS). It is also known as the Child Dental Benefits Schedule. This is a program run by the Australian Government that fully subsidises dental treatment. These treatments include:

  • Emergency treatment (toothache, trauma)
  • Full check-up including X-rays
  • Scale & Clean
  • Dental fillings
  • Extractions
  • Root canal treatment

Is My Child Eligible for Free Dental Treatment?

The easiest way to find out if your child is covered by the Australian Government’s Child Dental Benefits Schedule is to contact us directly and we’ll be able to advise you right away.

Your child must be aged between 2 – 17 years.

If you are already receiving a Government Benefit (such as the Family Tax Benefit A), then your child should be eligible.

What Dental Treatments are Included in the Schedule?

Some of the dental treatments that are included are dental examinations, x-rays, scale & clean, fillings, extractions, and also partial dentures.

Benefits that are not available on the Schedule are cosmetic dental and orthodontic work.
