What snacks are safe for my children?

- Raw veggies, nuts, cheese, lean meats and breadsticks are nice safe options for snacks
- Decay is caused by how frequent you snack and how long you are exposed to food at any one time.
- This does not just mean fizzy drinks and lollies but also foods high in natural sugars or starch
- Ideally aim for under 5g of sugar per 100g
- Snacking between main meals and should be light and low in sugar
- Fresh is best, packaged foods tend have higher sugar content
- Avoid sticky, gummy, chewy or sweets foods
- Avoid grazing
- Limit fruit to two servings per day (while fruit is good for little ones but can be harmful in high dosages)
- Always give kids water with every meal to help wash away food that is lingering around the mouth
