FAQ'S

Frequently Asked Questions

If you have discoloured teeth, stained teeth, or yellow teeth, professional teeth whitening treatments can help you achieve whiter teeth and make your smile brighter.

Most teeth whitening solutions contain hydrogen peroxide or carbamide peroxide. When carbamide peroxide comes into contact with water, it releases hydrogen peroxide. In-chair teeth whitening can lighten teeth faster than over-the-counter whitening treatments since this cosmetic treatment includes higher doses of peroxide.

It has been proven that teeth whitening is safe when done by a dentist who is qualified to perform the cosmetic dental procedure.

According to studies, people who smile with a brighter, more confident smile are happier, have more satisfying social lives, and achieve higher levels of success in their careers. One way to feel better about yourself and your appearance is to have your teeth professionally whitened at Maylands Dental Centre.

In-office teeth whitening is among the safest, most effective, and fastest ways to whiten teeth. A quick and lasting result, combined with increased comfort, makes the cost totally worthwhile.

An in-chair teeth whitening procedure can take one to three hours, depending on the results you want and the product used. At Maylands Dental Centre, we use premium teeth whitening products, based on the latest technology, that are proven effective teeth whitening solutions. Our advanced tooth whitening system achieves outstanding results in just a single appointment. With Philips Zoom teeth whitening, teeth can be lightened four to eight shades whiter.

The first step in in-chair teeth whitening is to assess your dental health. If we determine that you are a good candidate for teeth whitening, we will get to work preparing your mouth for the cosmetic procedure. As a precaution, we will use a lip retractor to keep your mouth open wide, gauze to keep your mouth dry, and we will place a rubber dam to protect sensitive gum tissue from hydrogen peroxide.

Our whitening gel will then be applied to your teeth, and we will activate it with a light to produce immediate results. It takes about 20 minutes for the light to convert the oxygen in the gel into a form that can penetrate deep into your tooth enamel to remove stains. Depending on the shade you desire and the colour of your teeth, we will most likely need to apply several layers.

In order to maintain long-term results, we recommend a take-home whitening kit or have in-office whitening every six months.

You may temporarily experience sensitive teeth after a teeth whitening treatment due to the active ingredient in the whitening gel. Hydrogen peroxide is responsible for removing stains from teeth. Sensitive teeth can be managed with over-the-counter pain medications and by avoiding hot or cold foods and drinks.

The whitening gel may cause an irritating chemical burn if it comes into contact with gum tissue. Fortunately, professional treatment by an experienced dentist can significantly minimise or eliminate accidental gum contact with the gel.

Your teeth will require care after a teeth whitening treatment in order to keep that beautiful, whiter smile for a long time. Your teeth whitening outcomes can be affected by your drinking, eating, and dental hygiene habits.

To avoid plaque buildup, practice proper oral hygiene habits such as brushing and flossing on a regular basis. It is recommended that you visit your dentist twice a year for periodic check-ups and cleanings to help maintain your beautiful white teeth.

Eat low-acid foods and avoid items that stain your teeth, such as berries, dark-coloured sauces, coffee, tea, wine, or sugary drinks.

Smoking and chewing tobacco will quickly discolour your teeth, so it’s time to quit for the sake of your health and your beautiful smile.

The cost of an in-chair whitening session at Maylands Dental Centre is $799. A take-home teeth whitening kit costs $299. Each kit includes the following:

  1. Phillips Zoom Day White 14% Carbamide Peroxide (x3)
  2. Custom-fitted whitening trays

If you already have custom-made trays, we can set you up with Phillips Zoom Day White 14% CP gels for only $25.

With our no-interest financing options, you can begin whitening your teeth immediately. Flexible monthly payments allow you to easily afford to get the brightest smile and the best teeth as soon as possible.
